Matt joined Corporate Affairs Australia after 20 years experience in industrial relations, policy development and corporate affairs at the highest levels of Government and with some of Australia’s leading companies.

Matt first worked for government in 2007 as a Senior Policy Advisor, leading the team redrafting the State Industrial Relations laws under the Hon John Kobelke. He has worked as a Principal Policy Officer to the then Premier Alan Carpenter, and as Chief of Staff to the Honourable Alannah MacTiernan.

He was directly involved in the development of the WA Domestic Gas Policy and was the then Premier’s representative on the Varanus Island Task force, following the incident that saw WA’s domestic gas supply cut by a third in 2008.

Matt has worked extensively in the communities of the Esperance region for BHP, and in Karratha for Woodside. He has extensive experience in Indigenous and local community engagement, stakeholder management, policy development and government relations. Most recently he was the head of Corporate Affairs in Western Australia for major energy company Jemena.

Matt is on the board of the Claremont Therapeutic Riding Centre where his daughter does lessons. He is a passionate supporter of disability access issues.
